In response to the Commission Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), The Olander Corporation has determined that, as of October 10, 2011 and going forward, all of the products or articles that The Olander Corporation supplies are REACH compliant.
The REACH regulation defines and article as “an object which during production is given a special shape, surface or design which determines its function to a greater degree than its chemical composition”. The term “function” in the article definition should be interpreted as meaning the basic principle determining the use of the object rather than the degree of technical sophistication. Registration of a substance in articles is mandatory for an article if the substance is intended to be released from the articles during normal or reasonable foreseeable conditions of use.
It is our determination that a fastener is considered an article by this definition and that there are none of the 151 listed substances of very high concern as defined in the REACH regulations, or any other substances, in any fastener that we sell that are intended to be released from the fastener during normal or foreseeable conditions of use.
